Bridget Jones's Diary is the devastatingly self-aware, laugh-out-loud daily chronicle of Bridget's permanent, doomed quest for self-improvement — a year in which she resolves to: reduce the circumference of each thigh by 1.5 inches, visit the gym three times a week not just to buy a sandwich, form a functional relationship with a responsible adult, and learn to program the VCR.

My Thoughts:

This book/audiobook was unique and fun to listen to/read. I really enjoyed Bridget's voice and her transparency in her style of writing. Of course, this is written as a diary so it has plenty of fun parts to it from Bridget's side of her thoughts and feelings on things and her situations with different people. It was easy to keep up with the other characters and to remember where they were in their lives each time they were brought back up which was nice. I especially loved Bridget's keeping track of various things such as her weight, how much she smoked and drank alcohol. My only qualm was the ending. It was abrupt in my opinion and I hated how after going on this year-long journey with her and her various romantic experiences that it wrapped up so quickly and uneventfully. I did like the way it wrapped up ultimately however with her going over and adding up everything she had kept track of the entire year. It was the perfect ending to the diary in my opinion. I also really enjoyed Imogen Church's style of reading and felt she really expressed Bridget perfectly. If you're looking to listen to an audiobook of this, Imogen's version was amazing and the one to choose!

Likes: Funny, relatable. Bridget has a very distinct voice and style. Easy to keep up with various characters.

Dislikes: Abrupt ending.

Overall:
Recommend? Yes.
