Everbound by Brodi Ashton

Series: Eveneath #2

Publication: January 22nd 2013 by Balzer & Bray

Source: Library Book

Goodreads Summary: Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away.

Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.

Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.

In this enthralling sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love.

My Thoughts:

This book was just as good as the first one in the series which I find is quite uncommon.

I really liked the first one in this series. The only thing I had to complain about was that I felt that the Everneath was poorly explained. However, in this installment, we actually get to go to the Everneath. Although it didn't answer the questions I had about the Everneath that the first one brought up, I still found it to be interesting and a vivid, easy to understand depiction of the different sections of the Everneath and really brought it to life.

Ashton has a really good writing style. It's interesting and easy to read which makes you fly through the pages without feeling overwhelmed by what's happening, and it also keeps you reading and unable to put the book down. This one was even easier to read and keep up with for me because, unlike the first one, it doesn't jump back and forth between different periods of time but instead just focuses on Nikki's present.

I loved the characters again in this installment. I still like Nikki just as much as I did before. I love that Ashton kept everyone's characterization consistent in this one. I loved that Cole stayed the same in his unapologetic evil ways and the twist that he brought about in the end.

Overall, this book was a strong sequel and I think Ashton is a wonderful writer.

Likes: Nikki. Cole. Twist at the end. Easy, quick read.

Dislikes: None that I can think of.

Overall:
Recommend? Yes!
Reading the Next One? Yes!
